Product Description:
Most DIYers use this product in spring to stop crabgrass. Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed that germinates in spring, grows lime green and large during summer, and then drops seeds towards the later fall. The following spring, the process starts all over again. This is why crabgrass is called an “annual” grassy weed. The good news is that crabgrass can be stopped very effectively using this product, which is formulated for use in DIY spreaders. It’s the same active ingredient the pros use.

The best time to apply Prodiamine is in the spring or fall, as soil temperatures are between 55F to 70F. Each application of 3 lbs/1,000 sq ft provides about 3 months of pre-emergence protection.

Our recommendation for both cool and warm-season lawns is two applications in spring if the target is crabgrass.

Application Information:

DO NOT use Prodiamine if you are seeding or reseeding, as it will keep your seed from germinating.

This product should be watered in within 48 hours of application for best results. See the following table for the application rates we recommend.

I wish I'd applied this last Fall on my backyard. I used a small 18 lb bag on the front yard. Pretty good **** control. Backyard is weedy due to skipping Fall pre-emergent. I can hit it with some Celsius - but I have my barrier down for Spring and Summer. All good

Hello, thanks for reaching out.The key with most lawn products, including Prodiamine, is to wait until the lawn is dry again after applying your products and watering them into the turf. This also ensures that the product doesn't stick to any paws or shoes, as it can get tracked into the house and cause staining. We recommend applying products after people and pets are inside for the night, watering it in, and by the following morning, the product will be down into the soil. Applying to your backyard and front yard could be done on different days to make this simpler to manage as well.

What are the results of using twice (or more) of the recommended amount of your product on zoysia grass?

Hello, thanks for reaching out. You can use twice the application rate and not harm your lawn. This will give you 6 months of coverage. However, if you do this you do not need to apply it twice in the spring. We recommend splitting the application into two applications of 3lbs per 1,000 sq ft. in the spring because it gives you room for mistakes or weather. If you miss a spot with your first application, the second application covers it. If there is heavy rain after the first application, you have your second application to fall back on.

Hello, thanks for reaching out. The spreader setting for an Earthway 2600A is 14/15. We recommend starting with a 14 and testing a small area (ex. 1,000 sq ft with 3lbs in the spreader) to see if that setting works for your specific spreader and then you can adjust if needed.
