Yard Mastery 0-0-7 Prodiamine is a granular pre-emergent designed to stop weeds in the lawn, such as crabgrass, poa annua, bittercress, chickweed, and henbit. It’s the same active ingredient the pros use, formulated for easy DIY application.
Most DIYers use this Prodiamine in the spring to stop crabgrass. Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed that germinates in spring, grows lime green and large during summer, and then, towards late fall, drops seeds. The following spring, the process starts all over again. This is why crabgrass is called an “annual” grass weed.
The good news is that crabgrass can be stopped effectively using this product. The best time to apply Prodiamine is in the spring or fall, as soil temperatures are between 55°F to 70°F. This will give you approximately 3 months of pre-emergence protection.
For optimal lawn care results, prepare your yard before application by removing leaves, sticks, and debris, and mowing if necessary—provided your lawn is not dormant. Proper preparation ensures the lawn treatment reaches the soil surface evenly, maximizing the effectiveness of your fertilizer or pre-emergent application.

Prodiamine, the active ingredient in this granular pre-emergent, creates an invisible shield at the soil's surface. This barrier blocks weed seeds—like crabgrass and poa annua—from sprouting in the first place. By targeting weeds before they emerge, your lawn gets a head start, staying a step ahead of unwanted growth and letting your established grass thrive.
