Mesotrione MESO 4SC Select Herbicide for Lawn Weed Control

Control tough lawn weeds with Mesotrione MESO 4SC Select™, a selective liquid herbicide formulated for both pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control. With 40% mesotrione, this concentrated herbicide helps control more than 45 labeled broadleaf weeds and grassy weeds in approved turfgrass.

Mesotrione MESO 4SC Select is a generic alternative to Tenacity® Herbicide and works systemically through the roots, leaves, and shoots of susceptible weeds. It is especially useful during seeding, overseeding, lawn renovation, bare-ground seeding, and post-emergent weed control.

How Mesotrione Works

Mesotrione works by inhibiting photosynthesis in susceptible weeds. After application, targeted weeds may begin turning white as chlorophyll production is interrupted. Weed symptoms may appear within approximately 5–7 days, while susceptible weeds may die and wither over a period of up to 3 weeks, depending on the weed, weather, growth stage, and application conditions.

As a pre-emergent herbicide, mesotrione can be applied at seeding to help prevent weeds from competing with newly planted grass. Apply it before the grass seed germinates. Once grass seed has germinated and begins actively growing, applying mesotrione as a pre-emergent may injure the developing turf.

As a post-emergent herbicide, mesotrione helps control susceptible weeds in established, approved turfgrass. Add a non-ionic surfactant for post-emergent applications when required by the product label.

Approved Turf Types

Mesotrione MESO 4SC Select can be used on the following labeled turfgrass varieties:

• Cool-Season Lawns: Kentucky bluegrass, Turf-Type Tall Fescue (all fescues), Ryegrass
  
• Warm-Season Lawns: Centipede and Buffalograss
• Do not use on Bentgrass, Kikuyugrass, Zoysia, Seashore paspalum, or Bermuda lawns

***NOTE: Mesotrione is labeled for St. Augustinegrass only on sod farms, NOT home lawns.

Coverage varies by target weed, turfgrass, application timing, and product label directions.

Application Information

• Mix Mesotrione MESO 4SC Select with water in a pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.
  
• Use the included syringe to measure the product accurately.
  
• Do not apply with a quart hose-end sprayer or Ortho Dial N Spray.
  
• For pre-emergent control during seeding, apply mesotrione after the seed is planted but before germination, then water in with approximately ¼ inch of rainfall or irrigation.
  
• For post-emergent weed control, apply to actively growing weeds and add a non-ionic surfactant when required by the product label.
  
• Post-emergent applications do not require watering in unless directed by the label.
  
• Apply according to the current product label for the target weed and turfgrass.
  
• Do not apply to prohibited grass types, including bermuda, zoysia, bentgrass, kikuyugrass, or seashore paspalum.
